Merry Christmas! Time to exchange gifts and spread the joy. It’s everyone’s favourite holidays because we really went crazy on the shopping!
I used to buy something that looks nice, you know, it’s really fancy to look at but does practically nothing but…well, for you to look at. It’s not like I don’t buy decors anymore but I prefer to get people something practical; they can either use it or eat it.
In this year alone, I’ve practically cleared up more than 3 boxes on 5 occasions on things that I don’t use and don’t have the room for. Of course, I do keep souvenirs and decors bought from overseas but other than that, I have no choice but to donate them, recycle them, or simply to trash it.
The only decorative items that I feel are worth buying for others are handmade gifts that are worth keeping. I personally appreciate things that are handmade more than anything.
Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, or whatever it is, my favourite gifts to give have always been books, stationeries, kitchen and household items, electronic gadgets, vouchers or food items. They might not look fancy but they sure are useful.
So, this is just a thought really. The next time you want to get a gift for someone, do think about the practicality and hey, at least they think of you when they can actually use the gifts.
