A Calm Mind Performs Better

The sensation of fear, overwhelming feelings of anxiety and frantic agitation will cause one’s rational mind to shut down and be replaced with a fight-or-flight reaction. It can be helpful sometimes but often it will result in a lot more pain or even worsen the situation.

Over the years with different challenges thrown at me, I realized that it’s extremely important to have a calm mind and be in the state of peace even when you receive bad news such as getting fired, frantic client threatening to sue or painful news like losing a loved one.

When you’re calm, you can rationalize whether or not you can do something to make the situation better. If you can, at least you can think better without all the panicky feelings creeping up to you. If you cannot do much about the situation, you can change your attitude towards it and approach it in a positive manner.

Besides, a calm mind allows you to cope with stress better, thereby avoiding any extreme negative emotions which drives you to make decisions that are irrational.

Good things, bad things, they all happen for a reason. Today you might feel you’re the luckiest person on earth and the next day you’ll be swamped with problems that leave you feeling agitated and hopeless. But one thing for sure, life goes on. You can either choose to live life in chaos or in tranquility.
